Safety Tips
To help you stay safe while meeting new people on SignalGo, we've put together these safety tips. Please stay alert and use good judgment when making friends and meeting in person.
1. Protect your privacy
- Don't give strangers your real name, home address, workplace, ID number or other sensitive information
- Be careful with bank card numbers, payment passwords and SMS verification codes. Anyone who asks for a verification code is very likely trying to scam you
- Avoid sending live location or photos that reveal where you live in chats
2. Watch out for scams
- Be very wary of anyone who asks you to transfer money for "investments", "fake-order rebates" or "pig-butchering" schemes (romance investment scams)
- Treat any request for private transfers, advance payments, top-ups or QR-code payments as high risk and don't trust it
- Don't tap links from unknown sources or download apps from unofficial channels
- If someone keeps finding reasons not to video chat or meet but often brings up money, stop talking to them right away
3. Staying safe when you meet in person
- For a first meeting, choose a public place with plenty of people during the day, such as a café or a mall
- Tell a friend or family member who you're meeting, where and roughly when, and keep your phone on
- Get there and back on your own. Don't get into their car or go to a private or remote place
- Keep an eye on your belongings and your drink. Watch for anything added to a drink, and if you feel unwell, leave and get help right away
4. Report problems promptly
If you run into harassment, fraud, sexual content, threats of violence or other violations, please tell us using "Report" in the app and we'll look into it right away. If you or your property are in danger, call 110 (the police in China) immediately.
5. Contact us
If you have any questions about safety or need help, please reach us through "Contact support" in the app. SignalGo is always here to help keep you safe while you make friends.
